Nature seems to understand the practice, the power and the purpose of patience.
Practice – Nature has a rhythm that is evident as the seasons change again and again and again. Winter doesn’t stop coming if it is done perfectly one year. It repeats the season so that new life can spring forth. Nature’s rhythm is her way of telling us to practice and be intentional about it. She doesn’t want to give up, but embraces the birth, life, harvest and even death year after year. This practice allows new eyes to experience the first snowfall, the flowers blooming, the warmth of the sun and new wine that is harvested each year.
Power – The power of patience is living in the moment; being mindful. You can’t experience the power of it in the past or the future. It only has power to transform when you are present and choose it freely. Nature knows the power of each moment. She doesn’t rush through winter to get to spring. She knows if she does, spring may not come in its grandeur or glory. She knows the power that each moment lends to giving birth. Even if you can’t see what is happening, she trusts the power that the moment is perfect as it is.
Purpose – Patience allows you to find meaning in your life. Nature knows that every season has purpose and is needed in continuing the cycle of life. It is patient with each season and embraces and holds it until it is time to release. There is no need to hold on to what is dead in your life. It will rot and make you rotten. Nature trusts and lets go without looking back because the purpose is found in moving forward. Nothing is wasted. All and everything belongs.
Patience can change your life, your children’s lives and the lives of all you meet. By understanding the practice, the power and purpose of patience, it will help you step out of the crazy, fast-paced world and enter into living your life.
