Faith is the belief in God or a higher being who cannot be seen or proven; complete trust or confidence in someone. Faith is one value I’m instilling in my boys. I want them to believe, have faith and trust in God. God will take care of them and will provide for them. We are, however, responsible for putting our part to sow the seeds and water them to the best of our ability.
Divorce has certainly drawn me closer to God (and drawn me closer to Merlot and those delicious cupcakes). At the most vulnerable times, I have tapped into the Divine within me. I have surrendered, completely trusting and believing with God all things are possible and He will take care of me. I am imparting this to my boys. When they are troubled and feel lost, they can always count on me, to talk to me, to be there for them. But most importantly, God will never leave their side; He will bring them home. So when they are at school, at a play date, away from me, they can breathe, be still and pray.
While God plants seeds, we are responsible for sowing them using various tools. At different times in our lives, we forget to water the seeds, and it is during these times, we get lost and misguided. But sometimes in our childhood, we are brought up with faith, faith in God, faith in a higher being. And what I want to do is give my boys the same, the ability to tap into the Divine within them and find themselves at home no matter when they get lost or misguided.
Grace, I think God has a glass of wine waiting for me at home 😉 Isn’t He the best?!
Guiding Lesson:
Yes Eve, God is the BEST! There is nothing or no one like God. The love God has for you cannot be measured or fully experienced. He is in love with you and your desire to believe, trust and completely surrender delights his heart.
I commend you for sharing your gift of faith with your sons. Faith, trust and complete surrender are gifts that God chooses to give or not give. There are seeds within all of us and God uses the events (good and bad), people and your own life to water them so they can continue to grow. All you need to do is to show up before God or whoever you believe your God to be. Even if you don’t have faith, are questioning it or losing faith, don’t stop being faithful to your spiritual quest, intentional in your seeking God and curious about the Lover of your soul. He does not judge where you are. He just wants to love you where you are, whether you believe completely or are questioning his existence. He sees your heart and nothing warms his heart than someone who humbly seeks him in all things, faithfully walks with him and lovingly serves his people.
Faith, trust and surrender are priceless gifts to share with your children. The best way to teach them and water their seeds is to be the mother they can believe, trust and fall into your arms because they know your great love for them. This is how they will experience and come to know God. So continue doing what you’re doing. Your desire, actions and love will water these seeds within them. The rest is up to God.
Eve, have faith, trust and surrender to the sacred mystery and divine timing of Great Love. When in doubt here is short prayer: “Dear God, I believe and all my doubts believe too.” Rest in this and allow every cell and doubt within you be watered by God’s grace. God does not fear your doubts. He only loves.
I’ll leave you with this quote: “For those that don’t believe, no proof is possible, for those that do believe no proof is necessary,” by Stuart Chase, Engineer and Economist.
Go drink the wine God has waiting for you. I believe he even has a cupcake. Enjoy!
Love always,
Grace
