***Yawn*** I am just waking up from my beauty rest. Nightmares and new dreams filled my head while I hibernated. I awake with a new sense of self. I am ready to create new adventures, build new dreams and redefine who I am.
Wide awake, I stretch and can feel every muscle’s elasticity, control and range of motion. It feels good to be this in tune with my body and to know my mind is just as ready for its own exercises. The mind’s elasticity has been tested in the past year. I have let go of the mental control I placed on it that kept me from moving forward, but rather weighed me down. I am ready to see my mind’s range of motion in creativity, curiosity and construction.
Let the mind stretching begin…
Guiding Lesson:
Eve, it feels so good to stretch. Even as an angel we get complacent and sometimes too comfortable. I guess there’s a little human in me like there’s an angel in you.
The first place to begin is stretching the body, which is most tangible. It helps you notice if you are connected or have been operating detached from other body parts. Isn’t it funny that you need to stretch out to know if you are linked in/connected?
As you have discovered, you have grown aware of your body and are more present to your needs. This is fabulous! Now it’s time to explore expanding your mind. This exercise will have you wake up to new creative thinking, self-awareness and future opportunities. Are you excited as I am? What a journey this will be? Where will your mind take you? Eve, the possibilities are endless.
Have you started an exercise routine for stretching your mind? Like your commitment to your physical exercise of the body, the mind too needs a regimen. What will yours be?
Believe it or not, the first thing, and still the most important, is taking deep breaths. Breathing is the key ingredient to becoming whole mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. It is our very existence in the American way of life that does not practice enough true breathing. Don’t take my word. Test it yourself. How many times a day can you catch yourself only taking shallow breadths? How often are you really taking time to breathe deeply that causes every cell of your being to wake up to the fullness of life? And you know like I know that your brain functions when oxygen is flowing with each breath you take. So the first step is . . . breathing deeply and letting the mind open up to that which does not yet exist.
I like to leave you with what Oliver Wendell Holmes said, “The mind, once expanded to the dimensions of larger ideas, never returns to its original size.”
